As the primary EMS agency for the City of Summit, the First Aid Squad responds to various types of calls for help. A medical emergency
in the patient's home is the most common type of call. Summit has a large number of doctor's offices and clinics, and we are often called to these
facilities as well. Summit's busy streets and 2 major highways are often the scenes of accidents that also require our services. It is not uncommon
for all 3 of our ambulances to be responding to emergencies simultaneously.
The Squad also provides many non-emergency services. We "stand
by" at various community events, such as high school football games and the Independence Day fireworks. When possible and by prior arrangement, we also provide
non-emergency transportation to Summit residents who need an ambulance to
travel to local doctor's appointments or even to out-of-state hospitals.
