Overlook Area First Aid Squad Council

The Overlook Area First Aid Squad Council serves as a liaison between Overlook Hospital and the Emergency Medical Service organizations in it's service area. Members of the Council include the Overlook's Emergency Department,
Mobile Intensive Care Unit, Cardio Pulmonary Department, CenCom (dispatch agency), Hospital administration, and 20 area pre-hospital care providers (First Aid & Rescue Squads).

The Council meets bi-monthly. Meetings are usually held at Overlook Hospital on the second Wednesday of the month in January, March, May, September and November.

Member squads may send as many members as they wish, but each squad is allowed only 1 vote. Member squads typically have 2 delegates, one of whom is often the Captain or President.

• Wednesday, November 9, 2005 - Overlook Area First Aid Squad Council Meeting. 8:00 P.M. in the 5th floor conference room area at Overlook.
• Thursday, December 8, 2005 - What's new in Pre-Hospital Stroke Management Dinner/Seminar. 6:00 PM in the Wallace Auditorium at Overlook. The dinner is free of charge for all EMT's and the program is approved for 2 elective CEU's. Click HERE for the registration form.

News:

• The ED supply closet is now locked. Please see the Charge Nurse to exchange supplies (1-for-1).

• The HEAR radio is now working again. Please call in for all inbound BLS patients.

• AED run forms are no longer required. A print out with all pertinent call data should be left with the ED charge nurse.

• The Squad Equipment room is location just inside the new ambulance ambulance entrance.

• Medical product safety and recall  information is now available online.  Click here for more information.

• Atlantic Health has purchased several ambulances for inter-facility transports.  EMS Director Jeanne Kerwin explains in a letter to area first aid squads.

• Latex Allergies: Reports of allergic reactions to latex by medical personnel as well as patients have been increasing in recent months. Overlook Hospital recommends that all emergency medical organizations consider the use of non-latex disposable gloves (such as vinyl or nitrile).
